Sweet success

We would like to take this opportunity to wish the very best of luck to the contestants as they embark upon Bake Off’s first ever caramel week tonight.

We tried to make caramel from scratch once after overestimating our own culinary skills, and it went so badly that we spent the next three days scrubbing the glue-like substance that resulted off the bottom of our saucepans.

Hopefully the nine remaining bakers, being much more skilled than we are, won’t find themselves in a similarly sticky situation as Prue and Paul put them through their paces once again. But after tonight’s signature bake, technical challenge and showstoppers have all been completed, one of them will still be leaving the marquee for the last time.
