Moira’s baby shock – we discuss!
NATALIE J ROBB AND DALES BOSS IAIN MACLEOD CAN FINALLY SPILL THE BEANS ON MOIRA’S BABY TWIST…
Cain is set to be a key player in Moira’s life again” NATALIE
While going into labour was the last thing Moira expected when trapped in a blazing row with Emma, there’s every chance it actually saved her life.
Until Moira roared that the baby about to be born was Emma’s grandson, the crazed nurse seemed set on leaving her to burn in the barn fire.
This dramatic storyline twist came as a massive shock – to everyone apart from Natalie J Robb (Moira) and Emmerdale’s series producer Iain Macleod, of course! Now it’s time for the pair to break their silence…
Congratulations on both managing to keep quiet for so long! When did you find out Moira was pregnant?
Natalie About four months ago – I thought, ‘Here we go again’! But it’s great. I’m lucky and grateful to be a part of this, and it’s a nice surprise after Moira losing Holly. My biggest concern was how Moira wouldn’t know that she was pregnant after having three kids already! So I did some research, and it does happen – I met a lady who had her fifth child without realising she was expecting.
Iain We were always worried that viewers might think we’d made it up because we needed a big twist, but from the moment Moira slept with Pete, we laid a trail…
Natalie We added a few things into the performance – mainly the tiredness Moira was suffering. She fainted a few months ago, and that was the start. But nobody guessed!
So is Pete definitely the dad?
Iain Wait and see! Moira could be forgiven for saying anything while in the burning barn.
She’s not lying, but the truth is more complicated. When you look back at the timeline, there might be other suspects. But we won’t be telling a protracted ‘Who’s the daddy?’ story…
How would you feel if the father was Cain?
Natalie Mathematically Cain could be the dad – but
romantically, I’m pleading the Fifth! Cain has already been getting the calendar out and counting on his fingers. And he’s set to be a key player in Moira’s life for at least the next six months. I love working with Jeff [Hordley, who plays Cain], so if it goes that way, great. But you never know!
We’ve already seen Moira struggling – is losing Holly set to affect how she copes?
Natalie She doesn’t really cope. It’s not easy for her…
Iain It’s a continuation of the Holly story in that losing her daughter creates a big shadow over Moira’s ability to bond with the child and be happy.
Are you enjoying working on set with a baby?
Natalie He’s a dream – when he’s handed to me for filming, he opens his eyes on cue. Apparently his grandfather is Scottish, so he must like the dulcet tones of my voice!
