SO SORRY FOR SAD SHONA It’s been a tough week in Corrie’s Platt household, as Shona felt she had to call time on her relationship with David for the sake of the kids. And we’ve had a lot of fan mail for actress Julia Goulding…

I can’t think of a soap character who’s gone from ‘zero’ to ‘hero’ for me quite like Shona. She’s had a terrible life, thanks to her ex and her son – and she was also a victim of evil Nathan – but she’s still such a kind and loving person, and clearly devoted to David. Julia Goulding is just amazing, and so beautiful. I think she’s going to be a huge, huge star!

Rachel, Lincoln There are so many brilliant women in Corrie at the moment, and such a variety. Leanne, Eva, Mary, Rosie, Amy, Sally, Gina, Gemma… The list goes on and on – and they couldn’t be more different! But my favourite is Shona. She’s the one I’d most like to have a drink with.

I think Jack P Shepherd and Julia Goulding are great together. They were amazing when David and Shona split up, and then even better when they got back together again.

You’re right there, Martin. And the next letter writer agrees with you – but also points out that the most dangerous thing to be in soap is popular…

David and Shona are my favorite couple in soap – they’re just such a funny and natural double act. They remind me of when Steve Mcdonald was with Becky. The problem is, David and Shona are so good, the Corrie writers aren’t going to give them a moment’s peace, are they? As soon as someone is happy in soap, the torture has to begin, doesn’t it?
