The former lovers will pull each other again at Christmas…
If you’ve watched Corrie recently and thought you spotted a flicker of flirtation between Steve and Tracy, your eyes weren’t deceiving you!
The pair – who’ve been more on and off than the beer pumps at the Rovers – are set for an unexpected reunion this winter, confirms Street boss Kate Oates.
“I really like Steve and Tracy,” shares the Street’s producer. “You can see what sort of things have drawn them back together. They’ve both been around the block so many times that, in a way, maybe they should be brought together again for a while.”
We imagine that Tracy will feel as though all her Christmases have come at once, seeing as she’s always had a soft spot for Steve – even when they’ve been at each other’s throats! But there’s one person who definitely won’t be thrilled to see them back together, and that is the pair’s bratty teenage daughter Amy!
“Amy’s not happy about it, because she knows that her parents are both trouble,” explains Kate. “And, on a very shallow level, she’s used to things being as they are. Amy gets two sets of birthday and Christmas presents, as kids from broken homes do.
“I think she’s worried that it will end in tears. She knows that both her parents are walking car crashes, but everything is all right at the moment and they kind of get on. So she’s afraid of them getting together and then it all imploding. She’s really not very happy!”
To be fair, Amy has a point – all Steve and Tracy have ever done is made each other miserable. So is it fair to assume that this latest attempt at a relationship is doomed to disaster?
“Whether it will be long-long term, you’ll have to wait and see,” grins Kate. “Amy’s prophecy may come true…”
