“We had pizza to celebrate!”
Having nabbed the Best Young Actor crown from last year’s winner – his Dales co-star Amelia Flanagan (April) – 10-year-old Alfie is feeling as proud as punch…
How did you find out you’d won, and how did you feel?
I was filming a scene in Mulberry Cottage, and afterwards Charlotte Bellamy [who plays Alfie’s onscreen mum Laurel] told me I’d won Best Young Actor. I was so thrilled and really surprised. When I got home, my mum had put banners up, and a lightbox saying ‘Best Young Actor’. She’d also ordered my favourite food – pizza!
What have you particularly enjoyed filming this year?
I’ve really liked doing the Emma storyline, and working closely with Gillian Kearney, who played her. That storyline meant that I acted with people who I hadn’t acted with before, and involved working on different sets to normal.
Do you have a message for the Inside Soap readers who voted for you?
Thank you so much for voting for me – I can’t believe I’ve won! The best thing about playing Arthur is that he’s so kind and caring. And I love filming his scenes because Emmerdale feels like a second home – and the actors who play Arthur’s family are like a second family to me.
Have you found a special place to keep your Award?
Not yet – I think my mum is going to buy a shelving unit or something!
