“Myra and Marnie are the odd couple that viewers love!”
There are many great double acts in soap – but you have voted Hollyoaks’ Myra and Marnie your favourites of 2017! And as we sit down with stars Nicole and Lysette to talk about their partnership, it’s clear by the way they finish each other’s sentences that they love working together as much as we love them on screen together…
How does it feel to have won Best Partnership?
Nicole I still can’t believe it’s real! I’m totally blown away that we were even nominated in the first place. But we’re overjoyed. Lysette will be keeping the Award and sending me photographs.
Lysette I’ll polish it because she won’t!
What is it that makes Myra and Marnie such a great partnership?
Nicole Their bad taste in men! They have more in common than you’d think – they’ve both lost children – so they understand each other.
Lysette It’s the odd couple dynamic that viewers love. That’s what is funny – the irritation and exasperation between them!
Do you two have fun working on set together?
Lysette Oh yes, and we take our comedy very seriously! That’s the only way to do it. We work out the timing together.
Nicole We get the scripts and consult each other on how to deliver the lines or try it different ways. Lysette gives me some fantastic ideas.
We loved the scene where Marnie wore a onesie…
Lysette They brought some onesies on set the other day and I actually took them home! Now my son and I have matching ones with ears – I love it! I’ve got all these designer clothes and I live in my onesie.
What’s coming up for Marnie and Myra?
Nicole We’ve got our own big storylines at the moment, so we just get little pepperings of things together. But hopefully we’ll be doing some more stuff soon.
Lysette I don’t think anyone saw this Award coming, so hopefully the show will react to it and give us more scenes together!
