Jack & Darren are trapped in a car by a vicious dog

Will Jack and Darren make it to Frankie’s funeral?

Inside Soap - - WELCOME! - Sarah Ellis

Here at Inside Soap, we’re still struggling to come to terms with Frankie’s shock death – so spare a thought for poor Jimmy Mckenna, who plays her grieving husband Jack.

“I was so upset when I found out Helen Pearson [Frankie] was leaving,” the star tells us. “We’ve been working together for over 15 years now. The whole Osborne family was close on set, so we’re all missing Helen very much.”

Poor Jack hasn’t been coping well since his wife’s sudden death from a stroke – so when it comes to organising her funeral, he struggles to keep it together. However, after his clan makes a mess of the arrangements, Jack is forced to step in again.

“He doesn’t like the f lowers they pick and he doesn’t like the music,” shares Jimmy. “Jack is in a bit of a state and can’t really cope – but when he realises that he’s the only one who can give Frankie the sendoff she deserves, he snaps out of it and gets the ball rolling.”

Jack’s idea of the perfect funeral involves tracking down a rare Cher album that costs him £2,000. However, after he and Darren head off to meet the seller, nobody turns up – and the pair end up trapped in their car by a vicious dog! Will they make it to the service?

“It was actually a very friendly dog, but I’m sure they’ve made it look fierce on screen,” laughs Jimmy. “They were lovely episodes to film – the past few months have been fantastic. It’s some of the best stuff I’ve ever had to do in Hollyoaks…”
