Eva finds out she’s pregnant!
SHE’S EXPECTING A BABY – BUT WHAT WILL SHE DO NEXT?
Dumbstruck Eva gets a life-changing surprise this week, when she discovers that she’s fallen pregnant! After the run-down barmaid has a casual chat with Shona about her recent illness, Shona takes it upon herself to Google Eva’s symptoms – and all signs point to Eva being up the duff. And having faked a pregnancy in 2017, Eva can’t believe it as she finds out she really will be giving birth later this year…
“Twelve months ago she’d have given anything to settle down and have babies, but after all that’s gone on, this is the worst thing that could have happened!” gasps Catherine Tyldesley, who plays poor Eva. “She just thinks she’s tired and coming down with something, so it’s a massive shock.”
After a positive pregnancy test, Eva is in disbelief at the situation in which she finds herself. But as if expecting a baby isn’t shocking enough, the mum-to-be is lost for words when a scan at the hospital reveals that she’s been pregnant for 17 weeks! With only a few months until the due date, it’s a lot for Eva to process, and she confesses to her new confidante Shona that she doesn’t feel ready to have a child right now.
What Eva needs is some support from her sister – but with Leanne preoccupied by Simon’s bad behaviour (see p21), Eva doesn’t get the chance to share her news.

And after the moment has passed, she’s unsure about opening up to her sibling.
“Ordinarily Eva would tell Leanne everything, but the fact that she was quite judgmental at her wedding is in her mind,” admits Catherine. “She’s scared Leanne will say, ‘I told you so, this is karma!’. Shona has just stumbled across Eva’s secret, and while they’re not particularly good friends, she’s kind and tries to support Eva.”
Unwilling to confide in her family about her predicament, Eva decides that she ought to think things through alone. And with a heavy heart, she realises that having this baby just isn’t an option for her.
“After Eva has discussed her situation with her doctor, she thinks that a termination is the only way out of this situation,” explains Catherine. “Not having the baby isn’t an easy decision for Eva. All she’s ever really wanted from life is to meet her Prince Charming, settle down and have a family. Unfortunately, however, she feels stuck with no way out.”
Will Eva really go through with the termination, or could there be an unexpected solution to her problem?
