The White clan: dead and alive!

HE FRETS AS REBECCA SHOWS SIGNS OF COMING ROUND…

- Allison Jones

Lachlan is paralysed with fear this week, when Rebecca appears to be waking from her coma – but as he lays his mum and grandad to rest, is his guilt about to be revealed?

The lad is terrified that once Rebecca is conscious again, she will expose his part in the car crash that wiped out half his family – and Lachlan can barely concentrate as the day of their funeral arrives…

“Rebecca is the only person who knows that Lachlan caused his mother Chrissie to crash the car,” sighs our Emmerdale spy. “He might have escaped the deadly accident physically unscathed, but the knowledge that he’s to blame for the death of his family members is weighing heavily on Lachlan’s mind. And if anyone else finds out what happened, his life might as well be over, too.”

It’s Lachlan’s oblivious other half Belle who encourages him to start organising a funeral for his late mum and grandfather. Since their deaths, Lachlan has moved in with Belle and the Dingles, and he’s already comfortably settling into a new family life. Which is why, when comatose Rebecca’s finger twitches and she appears to stir, he’s beside himself.

“Lachlan is on a knife edge – trapped between the hope Rebecca could pull through, and the terror of what it might mean for his future if she does,” explains our sneak. “Of course, he has no idea what Rebecca may or may not remember of that fateful day – she’s suffered a serious head injury, after all. But he’s still frantic enough to try to cover his tracks.”

Rebecca is the only one who knows Lachlan caused the crash…”

Disturbed by the knowledge that he left an incriminating voicemail on his mate Gerry’s phone at the time of the crash, Lachlan is desperate to delete it before Gerry hears it. Gerry hasn’t yet done so as he’s waiting on a replacement handset to be delivered, so Lachlan is desperate to intercept the new phone.

“Lachlan flees his family’s funeral and manages to get his hands on it,” reveals our insider. “But his relief proves shortlived once Gerry and Belle turn up, and Gerry suggests that they listen to the message together. Has the time come for Lachlan to face the consequences of his devastating actions?”
