Phelan attends Luke’s funeral
LUKE’S SISTER STEPH TAKES ON PHELAN AS LUKE IS LAID TO REST…
Luke’s loved ones gather to say their goodbyes this week – but evil Phelan makes a mockery of his victim’s funeral by attending the service!
The killer has already been taken in for questioning by the police, though has managed to stop the investigation in its tracks by casting doubt over Gary and Seb’s reliability as witnesses. While the majority believe Phelan is innocent of Luke’s murder, not everyone is willing to welcome his presence at the funeral – least of all Luke’s sister, Steph, who returns to the cobbles to pay her respects.
“Unlike most of his neighbours, Steph caught a glimpse of the real Phelan before she left for Portugal,” our Corrie insider reminds us. “After hitting Phelan over the head with a brick, Andy eventually told Steph that Phelan blackmailed him into carrying out criminal jobs for him – including burning down the garage! Steph knows Phelan is not to be trusted, and she’s only scratched the surface of how terrible he really is…”
Understandably, Steph is miffed to see his face among the congregation, and she doesn’t refrain from giving him a piece of her mind once they return to the Street.
But rubbing Steph up the wrong way isn’t the only trouble Phelan brings to proceedings. As the others toast Luke’s memory back in the Rovers, he sets his sights on Gary after overhearing a row between him and Bethany about her job at the lap-dancing club.
“Phelan loves any chance to knock Gary down a peg or two, so he can’t resist using the situation to his advantage,” says our source. “He suggests to Gary that they go to the club to watch her perform! Eventually Phelan’s taunts become too much for Gary, who slams his nemesis against the wall.”
Soon, furious Steph is firing her accusations at Phelan as the packed pub looks on – while across the street, Tim’s worries regarding Phelan prompt the anxious dad to whisk daughter Faye safely out of Weatherfield.
But as his enemies multiply, has Phelan finally pushed too many locals too far?
Steph saw the real Phelan before she left for Portugal…”
