Moira: will she leave the village?

AS MOIRA DECLARES SHE’S LEAVING TOWN, CAIN STUNS HER WITH A ROMANTIC ULTIMATUM…

- Allison Jones

The pressure of life in the Dales prompts despondent Moira to make a drastic decision this week – as she announces that she’s leaving the village!

However, she’s reckoned without her ex Cain – and when he discovers Moira’s plan, the prospect of losing both his little boy Isaac and the woman he can’t live without propels him into action.

“Being apart from Moira is absolute torture for Cain,” sighs our Emmerdale sneak. “She’s been to hell and back in recent months, of course, but Cain has tried to be there for her every step of the way. Yet even in the face of his devotion, Moira insisted they’d never be together.

“So in an attempt to force her to admit that she still loves him, Cain gives her one last chance. He tells Moira that she has to meet him at a specific time and place, or it’s all over. And he’s in for an agonising wait as the pair face their own high noon…”

At the start of the week, Moira realises it’s time for her and Isaac to start afresh somewhere new. She’s still reeling from the absence of son Adam and grieving the death of daughter Holly – and after Faith delicately suggests that they could redecorate Holly’s bedroom for Isaac, Moira really gets to thinking.

“She decides she just can’t carry on living in the house where Holly died,” explains our spy. “Losing her eldest daughter has changed Moira, and she believes the only way she has a chance to move on is to get very far away from the place where it happened. She really has tried to go on with life in the village, but Adam’s departure was the final straw. Packing up and leaving is her only option.”

Ironically, Cain’s ex Harriet – who’s heartbroken that she couldn’t compete with his feelings for Moira – is planning her own dramatic departure at the same time. Following her decision to quit the Church, Harriet’s friends and neighbours – including Dan, Laurel, Kerry and Daz – gather in the café in the hope of making the vicar reconsider her resignation.

However, Cain’s focus remains firmly on Moira, who does her best to explain her big decision to him. He’d managed to convince himself that he and his ex could make another go of things, so he storms off in the face of this fresh blow. But a heart-to-heart with Lisa prompts him to make a major move…

“Lisa insists that Cain can’t let Moira go without a fight,” shares our snitch. “So in a rare display of emotion, Cain pleads with her not to go – and he doesn’t stop there. Leaving Moira in no doubt about how he feels, Cain delivers a heart-wrenching ultimatum: if she loves him too, she should meet him on the bridge at 5pm!”

As Cain heads off, will Moira turn up at the anointed place and reconsider getting back together with her ex?
