Damon’s dad shows up!
THERE’S A BLAST FROM THE PAST FOR DAMON…
Damon is in line for a massive upheaval this week – when he’s reunited with his long-lost dad, Buster! The village barman hasn’t been short of family dramas in recent months, so how will relations be between father and son? And why has Buster really returned?
“Damon hasn’t seen Buster since Maggie kicked him out of the family home on Christmas Day a long time ago,” explains Jacob Roberts, who plays Damon. “Damon doesn’t know the real reason why. All he knows is Buster hasn’t stayed in contact over the years – as far as Damon’s concerned, his dad doesn’t really care about him.”
With Damon, half-brother Scott and best mate Brody trying to fulfil his mother Maggie’s dying wishes, they are intrigued when they find a mystery telephone number and message scribbled on the back of her bucket list. It leads the lads to Buster – who walks into the Dog just as they are trying to phone him!
“Damon is shocked to see Buster,” reveals Jacob. “After everything that’s happened with his mum, Damon is already in a bad head space – so his dad suddenly walking back into his life could make things even worse. Buster seems like he wants to make amends for the past, but Damon doesn’t trust him – and neither does Brody.”
As Damon struggles with whether to give Buster a chance to redeem himself, his father wastes no time in flirting with the local ladies. This includes smitten Marnie – who is more than happy to let newcomer Buster stay at the pub for a few days!
“Buster is quite a charming character – and everyone else seems to love him,” says Jacob. “He likes a laugh and a joke, and is pretty good at getting people onside. But Buster hasn’t been there for a lot of Damon’s life, so they’ve never really had any kind of relationship.”
Buster wants to make amends – but Damon doesn’t trust him…”
While viewers will have to wait and see if Damon gives Buster a reprieve, Jacob tells us he couldn’t be happier that Hollyoaks is expanding his on-screen family.
“It’s great that another relative has come in,” grins the star. “Nathan Sussex, who plays Buster, is a belting actor and a nice bloke as well. He is already part of the Hollyoaks family!”
