If the rumours are true, the Dingles will receive another blast from the past when Charity’s secret child turns up in town!
According to reports, Charity gave up the baby after being raped as a teenager, and has since buried her ordeal – hence why we have never heard of a long-lost sibling for her kids Debbie, Noah and Moses. But it sounds as if Charity’s past is to come back to haunt her when her child comes looking for their mum…
“While Charity is a tough cookie, the reappearance of this child will turn her world upside down,” reckons our village informant. “The guilt and having to open up to the person she abandoned as a baby, combined with the fact that she’ll need to tell her family about the trauma she suffered as a teen, is going to absolutely kill Charity.”
From what we already know of her past, Charity fell pregnant with Debbie after sleeping with Cain when she was just 13 years old. So will it transpire that the attack – committed by someone whose identity we don’t yet know – happened in the years after Debbie was born? The Dingle dame was in her early 20s when she first arrived in the village, so that would make sense.
Dales bosses are staying tight-lipped as to whether the gossip is true, but the twist would certainly throw a major spanner in the works. The Dingles are currently embroiled in a bitter feud with Joseph Tate, who blames Charity for his father Chris taking his own life. Joe targeted Debbie as part of his revenge, and she is still picking up the pieces – so how will Debbie react when she learns that her mum has kept this huge secret from her?
“It’s fair to assume Debbie will be shocked – but will she understand why Charity has kept it a secret?” muses our spy. “And how about this for drama? ‘A new Dingle joins the clan to help them take on Joe in the war to come!’”
