I’m afraid it’s a rather typical case of ludicrious-return-storyline syndrome
Women of Erinsborough, hold on to your husbands… because home wrecker Izzy Hoyland is back in town!
It’s been over a decade since Izzy last stepped foot on Ramsay Street – although the Kennedys do have regular contact with her through her daughter Holly, whose father is Karl. However, when Izzy turns up unannounced at Toadie’s birthday party, Susan in particular can’t help but wonder about her agenda…
“This is the perfect moment for Izzy to make a comeback, as she’s had plenty of time to plot her next move!” teases star Natalie Bassingthwaighte, who last played Izzy in 2007. “I can’t give too much away, but Izzy’s reason for coming back does involve Karl. However, her motivation isn’t so much about getting back with Karl – it’s more about what he can provide for her.”
As you can imagine, Izzy’s return isn’t exactly a quiet one. She’s dressed as Ginger Spice Geri for Toadie’s 90sthemed party (see p32) – and ends up in hospital after Susan hits her with her car!
“It’s an epic entrance!” grins Nat. “Karl and Susan are both shocked to see her – particularly the way she actually arrives. However, it’s Susan who’s really taken by surprise. It’s a case of,
‘Here we go again!’”
Izzy’s appearance causes instant trouble in the Kennedy marriage, after Karl suspects his wife of deliberately knocking her down! And when Holly arrives and Susan spots her

hubby playing happy families with his daughter and his ex, she can’t help but feel on the outer. Is everything as it seems, though?
“It soon becomes clear that Holly has almost taken on the parental role in her relationship with Izzy,” explains Nat. “Her moral compass is more attuned than her mum’s! But while
Izzy’s actions rarely demonstrate it, she does love Holly – and her motivation for returning is to do with her daughter.”
All will become clear over the next few weeks – and we promise it will be worth the wait! But the big questions are: what exactly does Izzy want from Karl? And is his love for Susan strong enough to survive this threat to their marriage?
