Billy yearns for more painkillers

HE BETRAYS ONE FRIEND – BUT OTHERS ARE DETERMINED TO HELP HIM…

- Kate White

Tragic Billy spirals further into the trap of drug addiction this week – as he steals from his good friend Izzy!

After running out of tablets, Billy goes to see Dr Gaddas and begs her to prescribe a higher dose of painkillers. He has no idea that sinister Adam has been tampering with his tablets – which is why the ones the doctor gave him don’t seem strong enough. However, when Dr Gaddas refuses, Billy takes matters into his own hands and is left disgusted with himself…

“Addiction is turning Billy into a person he doesn’t recognise,” sighs our Corrie spy. “After the horrific fall he suffered on Christmas Day, plus losing Todd and all the dramas with Summer, Billy is broken – and the pills are the only thing keeping him going. He’s frankly terrified that he’ll go under without them… and that’s why he can’t resist nicking Izzy’s supply when he lays eyes on them.”

Armed with Izzy’s painkillers, Billy feels more in control – but there’s further heartache to come. He learns that poor Summer is doing badly at school, and knows she is finding it tough to cope with Todd’s absence. Fuelled by guilt and sadness, Billy reaches for Izzy’s medication again, but is horrified to discover that he’s accidentally sent it through the wash with a pile of clothes! In agony and desperate for a fix, he makes the foolish decision to get a fresh supply from Adam – and soon pays the price.

Fortunately for Billy, Eileen comes to the rescue. After he fails to answer his phone, she

breaks in and finds Billy in bad shape. Eileen and Eva quickly get him comfortable and try to get to the bottom of what’s going on – and both women are heartbroken as Billy tearfully confesses the hell he’s been going through, and he admits his addiction.

When Eva examines the bottle of pills, she suddenly realises that her boyfriend Adam may be involved. But first she has to contend with Billy – and she and Eileen promise to stand by him as he tries to overcome his drug dependence. However, given neither has any experience of it, how much help can they be?

“Billy has a long and difficult road ahead of him, and things may get worse before they get better,” warns our snitch. “He’s already stolen from a mate, and he’s put himself in physical danger just to get a hit. Eva and Eileen have proven they are true friends – but can they pull Billy back from the brink when he’s so far gone?”
