You Ask… Clair Norris (Bernie)

Eastenders’ Bernadette ...faces your questions!

-

Bernie has her work cut out at the moment as she trains to be a chess master. But now it’s your move, and time for 20-year-old Clair to tackle your tricky questions…

“Do you reckon you’re anything like Bernadette in real life?”

She’s a typical moany teenager – not really wanting to go to school and moping around, that sort of thing – and there are some similarities to how I was when I was younger. A lot of the faces I pull as Bernadette, my mum says she recognises from when I was Bernie’s age. So I’ve been tapping into my younger self!

“What was your first day on the set of like?” Eastenders

It was very scary and overwhelming, yet exciting. I’d been in for costume calls and stuff like that in the weeks beforehand, but I hadn’t been on set – and didn’t know what the atmosphere was like with a director there and the camera crew. It was nice to come in with the family and be in the same boat, though I was very nervous.

“What’s it like working with Bronson the dog? And are you a dog lover in real life?”

I love dogs – all the Taylors do, actually. The dog who plays Bronson is great, and so well behaved. If you tell him to sit on the sofa, he just stays there and watches the scene. He’s so talented! He gets along with everyone – and is very strong! At home I have a King Charles Cavalier called Lucy – very different to Bronson…

“With your ballroom dancing background, who have been your favourites?”

Strictly Come Dancing is what got me into ballroom in the first place, back when I was 10 or 11. I was already doing other styles of dance, but then I started watching the show, and me and my friend decided to join a ballroom class. I’ve been doing it ever since! I thought Jake Wood [Max] was amazing in Strictly – and when I joined

Eastenders, he was the one I was most star-struck over. I’m in awe of his acting, too, so I’d be too embarrassed to go through any dance moves with him!

“What was it like working with Hannah Spearritt, who played Karen’s sister Kandice – and were you an S Club 7 fan?”

Well, I knew who S Club were and I’d listened to their music. It was really nice working with

“Who have been your Strictly faves?”
