Couch POTATO
Comedian Nish Kumar picks his dream viewing…
My favourite show at the moment is The Good Place
on Netflix. I’m hooked on that – it’s incredibly funny and has real ambition and originality, but also embraces big philosophical ideas. That show has it all! And it’s got Ted Danson kicking a dog into the sun, I don’t know what more people want.
I very much enjoyed Big Little Lies.
I didn’t know what to expect because I hadn’t read the novel, but it was fantastic.
The cast is insane – when it’s like, “Oh, and Laura Dern is in it”, you know that it’s an unreal show as she’s amazing.
There’s a glut of good comedies at the
moment – Donald Glover’s show Atlanta is very distinctive, and Gameface was fantastic. It’s great to see someone translating their comedic persona in such an interesting way – it’s consistent with Roisin Conaty’s stand-up stuff.
I consume Modern Family like ice
cream. I very specifically watch it because it just makes me feel better about things. At the opposite end of that spectrum is Larry David and Curb
Your Enthusiasm – discomfort is his currency, but I love him so much!
There’s a part of me that would love
to be in The West Wing, because I would love to be that clever and that good-looking. Even though they work in politics, everyone in The West Wing can rattle off one-liners and statistics – I’d love to have that sort of faculty!
