“I WANT TO DIE!”

Ross f lees the hospital...

- Laura-jayne Tyler

The physical and mental scars left by Ross’ acid attack take their toll this week, prompting the devastated fella to wish that he were dead.

Feelings of anger, hurt and frustration continue to plague Ross in hospital as he struggles to cope with his injuries, leaving Pete deeply concerned for his brother’s state of mind…

“Ross is a broken man,” reports our Emmerdale insider. “He genuinely would rather be six feet under than endure the pain and psychological torture of what has happened to him.”

Pete realises that Ross is in a bad way after he wishes that their late mother, Emma, had shot him instead of their other brother Finn. There is very little Pete can do or say to help Ross, other than tell his sibling that he loves him and offer his support.

However, Ross is clearly beyond help when he discharges himself from hospital and disappears – before turning up at the garage and giving Dan the shock of his life. After stumbling across a hooded man and believing him to be an intruder, Dan bravely pins the bloke up against the wall. But when he pulls the hood away from the guy’s face, he’s stunned to see scarred Ross staring back at him.

“Ross suddenly becomes very aware that he is out in public, and struggles to contain his anxiety as he frets that people are staring at him,” explains our mole. “All his confidence has been completely stripped away, and he feels a shadow of the man he once was.”

With Pete finding it difficult to get through to his brother, the tension between them threatens to explode as Ross enters a pit of self-despair that seems to have no bottom.

Meanwhile, Debbie is horrified when Ross declares that he wants to find the person who attacked him. She is of course responsible for the whole thing, having paid drug dealer Simon to target her nemesis, Joe – who only avoided the assault because her lackey mistook Ross for him.

So while Ross plots his revenge, what situation does that leave Debbie in? And can anyone save Ross from the self-loathing that threatens to consume him?
