Eileen wants to defend Phelan
AS PHELAN CONFRONTS A CRISIS, WILL LIZ STAND BY HER FRIEND?
Eileen tries to hold her nerve when it comes to Phelan this week – as she mounts a campaign to prove that her husband is a good man.
Phelan’s name is mud following Anna’s trial, with Tim even moving his family away from Weatherfield to avoid him. And now the builder and his daughter Nicola have fallen out, Eileen is seriously rattled and desperate to help her hubby fix the relationship. Can she convince their neighbours that Phelan isn’t a monster?
“It’s an uphill battle for Eileen – she’s about the only person who has any time for him at all,” shares our cobbles snitch. “But Phelan seems so down about the row with Nicola and the fact that he’ll never get to know his grandson. Eileen is terribly worried, and hopes she can help smooth things out between them – she doesn’t know the real reason Nicola hates her dad.”
As Eileen heads to the hospital to visit her pregnant stepdaughter, she’s certain she can broker peace between them. Yet Nicola won’t give an inch – instead, she tries to make Eileen see that she’s married to a dangerous man, and that she needs to get out quick. However, Eileen is blinded by love and finds it hard to listen.
Fortunately for the embattled wife, she does have someone to lean on as times get harder – her best mate Liz. Although they’ve fought, and Liz has made it clear that she doesn’t trust Phelan, Eileen knows that her friend wants the best for her. The two women reconcile, and to cheer up her pal, Liz agrees to give Phelan another chance by throwing a ‘Getting To Know Pat’ party.

her,” says our insider. “She’s certain that if Liz finally sees the real Phelan, she’ll discover what a great man he is. All she needs is for her fella to be the star of the show…”
What Eileen doesn’t know is that Phelan has a situation developing that could change everything. On the day of the
party, he gets a call from Mona, the project manager at the Mill development. She tells him some worrying news that leaves him with big decisions to make about his next move – so will Pat be able to impress Eileen’s guests when he has a developing crisis to deal with?
