Martin’s bond with newcomer Hayley looks set to turn romantic this week – but as he confronts life after Stacey, she sees red over his behaviour!
Viewers know that Hayley has an ulterior motive – so as she manages to drive Stacey and Martin even further apart, what exactly is her plan?
“As far as Martin is concerned, his marriage to Stacey is over, so he doesn’t think there’s anything wrong in exploring where things might lead with someone else,” says our Walford source. “Martin is clearly intrigued by Hayley, but he is also revelling in the fact that he’s getting attention from a new woman. If that serves to make Stacey jealous, then it’s just a bonus for him!”
With her and Martin’s recent troubles, Stacey is very wary about having anything to do with her estranged husband – though she reluctantly agrees to him looking after the kids for the day, on the strict condition that he brings them home at the agreed time. But although Martin is keen to spend quality time with Arthur and Hope, he uses the opportunity to meet up with Hayley as well.
The trouble starts when Hayley uses her influence on Martin to keep the kids out for longer than agreed. And when the children don’t arrive home, Stacey begins to panic and frantically calls Martin to find out what’s going on! However, devious Hayley persuades Martin to ignore the worried messages from Stacey.
“It’s clear Hayley is sinking her claws into Martin, and he is more than happy to let down his guard with her,” our snitch tells us. “But what is Hayley’s ulterior motive? When we first witnessed her hanging about the Square, she was clearly spying on Martin – and it seems someone has tasked her with collecting evidence against him.
