Chas pregnant with Paddy’s baby!

BUT ARE THEY READY TO BE PARENTS?

- Kate White

Chas and Paddy face a big decision this week, following the stunning news that Chas has fallen pregnant.

Worried Chas confided in her mum Faith about the baby bombshell, but didn’t realise that Paddy had overheard the dramatic admission. He’s in a state of shock at the idea of impending fatherhood, and both of them have complicated emotions about the baby.

What will they decide to do?

“Chas feels as though having this baby would be a big mistake,” says our Dales insider. “It’s been a complete surprise, and one that will change both their lives as well as their relationship. She wants to have a termination, and after they discuss it, Paddy agrees. But the truth is that he’s more conflicted than he’s letting on.”

While he’s never been a biological father, Paddy loves being a dad to Leo and Aaron. Those boys are his world, and the idea of having a child with Chas is exciting. However, he’s conscious that this is her body, and he wouldn’t want Chas to do anything she didn’t want to. Still, he wonders what their future might be like if Chas could conquer her doubts and embrace the idea of becoming a mother again.

It doesn’t take long for news of Paddy’s conflict to reach his concerned girlfriend. Chas is saddened to discover he was putting on a brave face for her, and that Paddy really wants them to have this baby. He’s touched when she approaches him and asks to talk about the situation again – but following a deep conversation, she’s forced to admit that she still wants to end the pregnancy.

“Paddy’s feelings matter to Chas, but she can’t have a baby just to please him,” sighs our mole. “Now she’s worried that he’s going to resent her having a termination. It could destroy their relationship.”

The truth is, Paddy is more conflicted about a termination than he’s letting on to Chas”

Paddy tries to be supportive of Chas as she struggles with morning sickness, but when she ends up snapping at him, the pair are clearly walking on eggshells around each other. For Chas, motherhood hasn’t been a bed of roses – she and son Aaron had to work hard to form a bond, and she feels guilty about what he went through at the hands of her vile ex-husband Gordon. In Chas’ mind, she only became a good mum once Aaron was much older, and she’s worried about what bringing a baby into the world might mean.

Will Chas stand by her decision – or will Paddy persuade her a baby would make their lives complete?
