It’s sad to hear that Chas’ reason for not going ahead with the pregnancy is that she thinks she has been a bad mum to Aaron. But what Aaron’s father did to him was not Chas’ fault! He’s grown up to be a fine young man since Aaron and Chas started living together in Emmerdale.

| Mary, Chester It was good to see such a realistic situation in a soap, where two parents sit down and really try to figure out what an unplanned pregnancy might mean to them both, and to the future child. The writing and the acting from Chas and Paddy were absolutely brilliant.

Charity’s reaction was very funny. On hearing Chas’ news she just snorted: “At your age?!” It was very like some of the reactions I received when I announced my ‘geriatric pregnancy’ (and that’s really what they call it!) to my friends. But I hope Chas goes through with it. She’s lucky to have a man as loyal and decent as Paddy by her side.

Whoever it was who coined the old saying “it takes a village to raise a child”, they must have been talking about Emmerdale! Chas might as well have the baby – it will have a massive family of extra mothers who already share parent duties, including Rhona, Laurel and Bernice!
