David raped by vile Josh

A NIGHT OUT ON THE TOWN WITH JOSH TAKES A DARK TURN, AS CORRIE ’S RAPE PLOT UNFOLDS...

- Kate White

David faces a horrific ordeal this week, when his new best friend Josh spikes his drink and rapes him when he’s out cold.

The nightmare begins as Josh manipulates David into joining him for a drink – and while on the surface the pair are having fun and a bit of a laugh, scheming Josh decides to lace David’s drink with drug GHB. He then takes David back to his place, with his victim barely conscious…

“In Josh’s head, it isn’t sexual assault,” explains Ryan Clayton, who plays the Street’s new villain. “He doesn’t see it as rape – he thinks, ‘I’m sure that David will be up for it, and I might just slip something into his drink to make it an even better time’. Josh completely believes that it’s consensual, and will try to believe that for as long as he possibly can.”

week they join forces once again to help Alya take on the man she thinks is connected with Luke’s brutal murder.

David has so far failed to see how quick Josh is to take any chance to be violent – but as the duo banter prior to David’s assault, he’s unsettled when Josh suggests that they could have more adventures together. So why is Josh so convinced that David is attracted to him?

“You’ll see that there is a trigger that Josh overhears,” says Ryan.

“It’s not as if Josh has thought like this since he arrived on the Street. So the rape is an opportunistic moment – and Josh takes that opportunity…

“If you were to ask Josh, he would probably tell you that he’s not gay,” adds the actor. “It’s just sex and it’s the modern day – it’s what people do. For a lot of people who commit this sort of crime, it’s all about being in a position of power, not feelings. Josh does this because he can.”

But after the night reaches it conclusion, how will David react when he awakes in the morning?

“Josh believes that he can do this to David and it will all be fine between them,” Ryan tells us. “The confidence that you see in Josh – the affable, cheeky chap flirting with people – begins to become part of his manipulation. He’s a dangerous person to be around, and we’ll witness him use all sorts of games and tricks in order to keep this under wraps…”
