A life in ruins BRITAIN AT LOW TIDE
Tori Herridge and her colleagues head off to the south-west tonight, to visit Len Goodman’s favourite waterway – that’s right, the “Severn!” Estuary. (Yes, we know Strictly itself did that joke years ago, but recycling is good for the environment.) It’s a fairly treacherous stretch, where high winds can spell disaster for small boats, and so it has plenty of warning buoys and lights – and lots of hidden stories below the surface. On the agenda for this evening’s exploration are the remote St Twrogg’s Island and the ruin sitting atop it, as well as the medieval village of Sudbrook that was lost to the tides.
