Living the dream
This documentary is a real labour of love for Sir Trevor, and a film that he’s wanted to make for a long time. To mark the 50th anniversary of the death of civil rights activist Martin Luther King in April 1968,
Trevor heads to the US to discover the story of a life that had a huge impact on his own.
One of the most interesting revelations in the film is that the iconic words “I have a dream” were not scripted for his speech at the March on Washington in 1963, and were spoken off the cuff – this is confirmed by MLK’S assistant Willie Pearl Mackey King, who typed the speech up for him. Trevor also goes in search of protestors who fought alongside King for their rights, and has a chilling sit-down with an ex-ku Klux Klan member.
