TRIPLE TROUBLE!

CALLUM WOODHOUSE AND DAISY WATERSTONE EXPLAIN HOW LESLIE’S LOVE LIFE IS CAUSING DRAMA FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY…

-

Although relocating her family to Corfu in the hope of giving them a better life was one of Louisa Durrell’s brighter ideas, her children haven’t stopped giving her reasons to worry about them ever since they arrived. And while it would usually be Larry or Margo whose love lives prompt sleepless nights, it’s unlikely Lothario Leslie who causes a stir at the start of the new series – when the family find out that he’s currently seeing three different girls…

“That was nice!” chuckles star Callum Woodhouse, who plays him. “Leslie had his heart broken in series one, and he’s still carrying the scars. In series two he didn’t really have any love interests – I think he spent that series feeling a little hurt by women, and now he’s trying to make up for lost time. I love the fact it becomes the family’s mission to decide which one he’s going to stay with!”

It makes for a bit of a role reversal when Margo, who has had boys at the forefront of her mind since their arrival on the island, decides to put romance on the back burner – and is instead focusing on artistic and professional pursuits.

“Margo’s still trying to find a purpose, and isn’t quite sure what it is yet,” reveals Daisy Waterstone, who plays her. “She’s about 18 now, and I think 18, especially for girls, is a time when you feel like you’ve grown up a little bit – and once you reach 19, you realise you haven’t! So she’s still looking, while also making soap sculptures, and she eventually finds a career she’s passionate about.”

Meanwhile, youngest son Gerry is continuing to add to his menagerie of animals, and his exasperated mother is attempting to get him to let a few of them go. Off screen, however, the cast love spending time with their non-speaking co-stars…

“It’s been the most fun I’ve had on set ever – we have a sloth!” enthuses Callum. “We would finish a scene and it’d take 10 minutes to set up the next shot, and I’d literally go and stare at the sloth. He has these long droopy arms, and they just sort of fasten around your neck, and you stand there feeding him little chunks of apple. I have loads of videos of him on my phone, all of him eating food and me laughing in the background!”

“It’s just a really nice warm feeling, knowing that you’re surrounded by all these animals,” agrees Daisy. “And when you have some time off from filming, it’s like being in a zoo – you can just go and have a look, say hello to the pelicans and pat the dog.

It’s a very nice little world!”
