May time in Emmerdale village is set to look uncharacteristically frosty, thanks to the extreme weather conditions suffered by the north of England recently.

Filming for the soap in Yorkshire was recently disrupted by the ‘Beast from the East’ and Storm Emma, and the picturesque location has since been hit with another downpour of snow – much to the frustration of the cast.

“It’s pretty… in December or January! Do you remember that year when we had a heatwave in March?” grumbled actress Nicola Wheeler (Nicola) on Twitter. “Can we have that again please? Weather gods, are you listening?”

Meanwhile, filming on location had to be abandoned – but only after poor star Mark Jordon (Daz) walked for an hour in the snow and caught two trains!

So don’t be surprised to see your favourite characters still donning their winter coats over the next couple of months, just as we’re (hopefully) digging out our shorts and T-shirts…
