Mariam & Arshad’s baby news

MARIAM HAS BIG NEWS FOR ARSHAD…

- Laura-jayne Tyler

The Ahmeds hope to enjoy a little getaway from Walford this week – until Mariam announces that they’re expecting a baby!

It’s not the typical baby bombshell you might hear around the Square, as Mariam and Arshad are registered foster-carers. But while the pair agree to take charge of newborn Harley, are they prepared for the stress and sleepless nights that come with looking after a bubba?

“Mariam and Arshad have had years of experience dealing with children of all ages – and frankly, they probably receive more grief from the big kid that is Masood these days!” chuckles our Eastenders spy. “That being said, caring for a baby involves a lot of work – so viewers can expect to see them experience a few teething problems.”

Prior to young Harley’s arrival, Mariam and Arshad are planning on taking a trip to their favourite place for a few days. Arshad panics when he fails to remember where their little bolthole is, though, prompting some frantic moments with Masood as his nephew attempts to jog Arshad’s memory.

However, the drama is soon forgotten as unimpressed Mariam turns up with a social worker in tow – and reveals that they’ve been asked to look after Harley. Mariam and Arshad take their parental responsibilities very seriously, of course, and no foster-placement is too big or small when it comes to a child’s welfare. However, as Arshad has trouble settling the baby, he finds himself turning to an unexpected source for help.

“Karen Taylor perhaps isn’t the first person on the Square whom the locals would think of turning to in a crisis, but boy does she have her uses,” grins our informant. “Arshad and Masood are passing by with Harley, and Karen can see that they are struggling. Let’s just say that she comes up with her own very special way to comfort the little’un…”

We can expect to see Mariam and Arshad experience a few teething problems!”

As Arshad picks up a tip or two from Karen, will it be smooth sailing for the remainder of Harley’s stay with his new foster-parents? Or have the Ahmeds bitten off more than they can chew this time?
