Bob & Laurel can’t keep apart

THE CHEMISTRY BETWEEN THE SECRET LOVERS IS SIZZLING…

- Kate White

Betrayed Brenda ups the ante in the fight for Bob this week

– by moving their wedding plans forward. But with her hubby-to-be and his secret lover Laurel unable to stay apart, is Brenda fighting a losing battle?

Now that she knows the truth, Brenda is determined to keep up the pretence of all being fine as she plots against them. She’s determined that Laurel won’t steal her fiancé, and so she continues to push Bob swiftly towards the altar. He’s the one who has been adamant about them having a future together and the one who proposed, so Brenda is resolved that he’ll see this particular promise through…

“Brenda’s furious, yes, but I thinks she’s more in pain,” says Lesley Dunlop, who plays her. “It’s a double betrayal, as this situation involves her partner and her friend. She doesn’t know how to deal with it, so she just thinks if she and Bob get married and she has the café to take her mind off things, it will all go away. She wants to believe Bob when he tells her that she’s the only one and he wants it to work.”

Although they’ve both fought their feelings, Laurel and Bob are struggling to ignore the chemistry between them. He’s in turmoil as Brenda continues to plan their nuptials, knowing that he’s marrying her for all the wrong reasons and it’s going to be a disaster.

Meanwhile, Laurel is upset with the pace at which the Hope wedding is moving, but feels unable to speak up, aware that she’s in the wrong and mortified by the fact that she’s lied to her friend Brenda. Despite their

Bob continues to sizzle – and never more so than when Laurel gets glue on her top, and Bob ends up helping her out of it…

“The whole situation is really, really sad,” sighs Lesley. “The viewers can see it from everyone’s point of view. I think they’re torn – I don’t think they are for one team or the other.”

Meanwhile, is Brenda’s state of mind starting to suffer? She finds Laurel’s scarf, puts it on and looks at herself in the mirror – then bins the offending item. She also discovers a new way to punish Laurel as she joins her and Bob for a drink, and enjoys the awkwardness that ensues as she plays them off against each other.

However, as she becomes more and more determined to stick the knife in, how long can Brenda last before she snaps?
