“My school friends think it’s very cool that I’m in Hollyoaks,” grins the 11-yearold, as she sits down for her first ever chat with Inside Soap. “I think that’s partly because they see how much time I have off school, though – they don’t realise I have to go for tuition on set as well!”
It’s a challenging role for Elá-may, whose character has been through more in her 11 years than most people endure in a lifetime. Leah’s mum Amy was murdered last year, and she has just found out her dad Ste has been having an affair with her stepdad, Ryan – quite a lot for someone so young to get their head around!
“Leah is confused and angry,” Elá-may tells us. “She doesn’t understand how they can all forget so quickly about her mum. She also doesn’t know how they can hurt her Auntie Tegan, who they are both supposed to love.”
Not someone who’ll let an opportunity pass her by,
