Mysterious Graham finally shares the story of his tragic past this week – as he opens up to Debbie.
Joe seems desperate to win her back, and Graham goes to see Debbie to convince her to give him another chance. While she’s suspicious of Joe, she is willing to hear Graham out. But she could never have imagined what he has to tell her…
“Graham hasn’t even told Joe everything about his past – he doesn’t give things away easily,” teases actor Andrew Scarborough, who plays him. “These scenes with Debbie are important as he doesn’t really talk about himself. Joe wasn’t around when all these things happened to Graham, but they met at his school after that and helped each other. What he says makes Debbie think.”
What Graham confesses is being kept secret, but it’s clear he has a fascinating backstory. We’ve already seen that he possesses some enviable skills, and can handle himself in a fight – and knew exactly what to do in the aftermath of Ross’ acid attack. Is that a clue to what he’ll reveal to Debbie?
“It’s becoming obvious to the audience that Graham has been involved in traumatic situations before,” explains Andrew. “He is trained to look after someone when something bad happens to them. The type of training is yet to be revealed, but he’s very strategic.”
While there’s a question mark over whether Joe has genuine feelings for Debbie, Graham seems to believe he has good intentions. But given how complex their dynamic is, and what he knows Joe has done to the Dingles, why is Graham trying to convince Debbie to give Joe a chance?
“Graham now sees that Joe is attracted to Debbie and he thinks Debbie is in love with Joe,” shares Andrew. “He’s seen a lot of dark things, so he likes it when good things happen. Graham is carrying a lot with him. He also identifies with Debbie as she’s someone who’s had a tough upbringing, and he admires her spirit!”
