HUNTER AND THE HUNTED
MELINA KANAKAREDES JOINS THE MEDICAL DRAMA AS A RENOWNED DOCTOR WITH A SHADY SIDE…
Last week’s pilot episode of The
Resident introduced us to the morally ambiguous world of Chastain Park Memorial Hospital – and this week’s instalment opens up that sandbox further by introducing oncologist Dr Lane Hunter, played by CSI: NY’S
Melina Kanakaredes. Lane’s work is widely celebrated, but even she has secrets, as we’re about to find out…
“She’s deliciously driven and kind of possessive of her patients,” Melina tells Inside TV. “She enjoys being able to control situations at all times, including people and power. I think as we learn more about her, we’ll discover that she’s someone you love to hate!”
Nurse Nic is quick to clock that something’s not quite right with Lane and starts digging deeper, but she’s making a powerful enemy.
“She’s a nurse practitioner and I’m the head oncologist, and basically world-renowned,” explains Melina. “Her questioning me in front of a patient is unacceptable, and we get off on the wrong foot straight away.”
However hostile things may be between Lane and Nic on screen, it’s a very different story behind the camera for Melina and cast mate Emily Vancamp, who’s best known as Emily Thorne in Revenge.
“It’s awful, because I love Emily!” laughs Melina. “She and I just get along gangbusters, and it’s so hard to play someone who can’t stand her! But to play the villain in a show is so much fun…”
