Ross: addicted to drugs

WHEN THE DOCTOR REFUSES HIM MORE PAINKILLERS, ROSS IS DRIVEN TO DISTRACTION…

- Allison Jones

Ross’ painkiller addiction comes at a terrible cost – and his little boy Moses could be the one to pay the price this week.

With his stress levels sky high as he battles to secure a fresh supply of pills from Dr Cavanagh, Ross takes his eye off the ball while looking after Moses. And the consequences could be catastrophic after the youngster gets his tiny hands on a packet of tablets…

“Will Ross spot what Moses is up to before the little lad shoves one of the pills in his mouth?” frets our Dales insider. “Ross is at his wits’ end and desperate to dig his way out of this depression he’s mired in – but the last thing he wants is for Moses to suffer. This perilous situation proves just how dangerous his position has become.”

After stumbling across Ross’ stash of pills, former addict Rhona reckoned she might have persuaded him to see sense, and talk to Dr Cavanagh about his dependency on the painkillers prescribed in the aftermath of his acid attack. But of course, Ross isn’t telling Rhona the truth – and when he sees the local GP again, he remains hell-bent on getting his hands on a new prescription.

“Against her better judgement, Rhona hasn’t told her boyfriend Pete about what’s really going on with his brother,” sighs our spy. “She really hoped that she’d managed to convince Ross to seek professional help for a nightmare that she’s all too familiar with. She’s relieved when he reassures her that he’s done just that – but in reality, he’s more desperate than ever to keep taking pills.”

In fact, Ross can barely cope when Dr Cavanagh insists that his face is healing well and painkillers are no longer required. And while his dad is distracted by the quandary of how to keep feeding his habit, Moses gets hold of one of the few packets of pills left…

“Ross is a million miles away, locked in his own desperate thoughts, so he doesn’t notice Moses rummaging through his things,” explains our sneak. “Can Ross come to his senses before the worst happens? We can only hope that he does!”

Will this terrifying situation end up giving Ross the jolt he needs to kick his habit? Or will his addiction claim an innocent victim in little Moses?
