Max returns to Albert Square

HE RETURNS TO FACE HIS FORMER FRIENDS AND NEIGHBOURS…

- Tom Spilsbury

The residents of Albert Square are none-too-pleased to see Max Branning back in their lives this week – and they’re even more shocked when they find out about his new business venture!

Having been inadvertently responsible for the death of his daughter Abi, Max was left a broken man. After being banned by the rest of the Brannings from attending her funeral, he slunk away from Walford a few weeks ago.

But he’s starting to get his life back together – and we’re about to find out what he’s been up to while away…

“A new car lot is opening in the Square, which naturally draws quite a bit of attention from the locals,” explains our East End insider. “Ian Beale’s curiosity is certainly piqued, and he’s stunned when he sees that Max is behind the new business. Ian had secretly hoped that Max would be gone from his life for good – after all, Max did try to murder him only a few short months ago! He’s petrified that his nemesis has come back to finish the job properly this time.”

Meanwhile, once Sharon hears about the new car lot, she pays Max a visit and warns him off by saying that Phil won’t be happy. Max isn’t at all bothered, though, and blithely ignores her warning.

“It’ll take more than a hard stare from Sharon to ruffle Max,” says our mole. “In fact, he’s rather enjoying seeing the chaos he’s causing – even though he’s barely begun!”

Next up Max drops in on the Queen Vic, where he causes yet more tension.

“When Max strides into the pub, bold as brass, Mick and Linda make it very clear that they don’t want him there,” shares our spy. “And can you blame them? They came

very close to losing their home because of his treachery, and even though they know Max has hit rock bottom after losing Abi, they still don’t want anything to do with him ever again.” In fact, since he plotted and schemed against virtually everyone in Walford, there are very few people ready to give Max a warm welcome. However, one person who has no prior history with him is Mel Owen. She only recently arrived back in the Square herself, and having just relaunched E20, she’s happy to let Max make use of the club. But that annoys his brother Jack.

“Jack can already see what could happen here,” sniffs our snitch. “He’s been circling Mel for a little while now, and he’s obviously interested in her. She’s exactly his type – she’s the spit of his dead wife Ronnie, in both looks and temperament. But now that Max is back on the scene, Jack sees him as a potential threat. He fears Max will try to get Mel into bed – and let’s face it, he’s probably right!”

Whatever Max has planned next in the Square, it’s surely only a matter of time before the sparks really start to fly…
