“Megan just isn’t the unfaithful type!”

As her alter ego snogs Graham and receives a marriage proposal, Gaynor Faye admits that traumatised Megan has got herself in a right pickle…

- Allison Jones

Megan is in for an unhappy week in the Dales, as she comes to believe that her fella Frank is being unfaithful. She hasn’t forgotten for one moment that Frank humiliated her last year by sleeping with her nemesis Charity – so when he begins acting shiftily, she reckons it’s a case of: once a cheater, always a cheater!

Furious Megan thus decides to get her own back by snogging her new business colleague, Graham – only for innocent, oblivious Frank to get down on one knee and propose to her! But can we blame the mortified woman for acting so recklessly? Not really, muses actress Gaynor

Faye, who plays her…

Megan does kind of put two and two together and make five, doesn’t she?

Yes, she does. She reads too much into a scenario after overhearing a conversation, and jumps to the conclusion that Frank is cheating again.

And then she goes for the jugular!

And Frank has form, to be fair.

Of course. I think that’s why Megan reacts as strongly as she does. And that’s the problem – once you’ve been cheated on, you’re never going to fully trust that person again, because the foundations of your relationship have been cracked.

The trouble is, Frank’s not actually up to anything dodgy, is he?

No. He’s communicating with Rishi, who’s on a date, via Bluetooth. It’s quite a leap for Megan to assume he’s cheating – but nevertheless she does.

Did Megan hope she and Frank were for keeps this time?

She was really hurt by him and Charity, but when Frank got arrested [after Megan and Charity set him up for fraud], Megan was devastated. Frank said he never wanted to see her again, but then it became quite clear that they missed each other, so they gave it another bash. And they’ve been in love since.

What is it about Frank that Megan can’t stay away from?

In the words of Michael Jackson, he’s a bit of a smooth criminal! I think they make a great couple, as neither of them is shy of pulling a fast one. They’re both well-educated and used to the darker side of life.

Convinced Frank is doing the dirty again, Megan takes to his fancy threads with a pair of scissors – as oblivious Frank is merrily preparing to propose! But Megan’s fury leads her to confide in new pal Graham, and one thing soon leads to another…

It must have been a lot of fun filming the scenes where Megan destroys Frank’s clothes!

It was fun and quite cathartic! But the Yorkshire lass in me kept hesitating. I was saying, “You’re sure these clothes came from a charity shop?”! It was a bit tricky with continuity, too, as we shot from different angles. I had to make sure I was cutting the same place each time.

In her rage, Megan has no idea that Frank is about to ask her to marry him. How would she feel if she knew? Ah well, she certainly wouldn’t ruin his favourite shirt – he’d probably be planning to propose in it! I think she’d be mortified if she knew. She’s a woman acting in extreme circumstances – she wouldn’t be cutting up somebody’s clothes for no reason. So she’d be gutted.

Megan cuts Frank’s gear into ribbons, then goes off to meet Graham. She’s not thinking straight at this point…

You’ll really wish that Megan had just asked Frank what was going on! She’s been working with Graham, as she’s accepted one of Joe’s clients at Take A Vow. Graham’s been flirting with Megan, but in a subtle way, so initially she doesn’t notice anything.

How does she end up kissing him?

Megan confides in Graham about Frank’s ‘cheating’. He’s very kind and flatters her, and things start fizzing between them. It’s all very spontaneous and takes her by surprise. She’s caught off-guard, it’s a snap decision – but yes, she kisses him. She immediately pulls back, but Graham moves in to continue it!

Does Megan regret it immediately?

She instantly feels guilty. And although she finds Graham very attractive, Megan just isn’t the unfaithful type. She’s thinking, ‘What have I done?

This is ridiculous!’, and rushes out.

Typically, it’s soon after this drama that Frank finally explains himself – and gets down on one knee!

I don’t think Megan can quite believe what’s going on by this point. She’s thinking, ‘What have I done? Why didn’t I just say something to him?’. She’s devastated by what’s happened.

Does Megan reckon she can keep this little glitch under wraps?

Of course she does! She feels secure in the fact that Graham won’t say anything. He’s a mysterious man, but when he says he’ll keep quiet, she believes him.

But does that mean she can ignore the attraction between them?

I think she’ll try hard, but there’s definitely something bubbling there. He’s a man with a lot to offer, and Megan finds his loyalty and pledge of silence very attractive, too. Andrew Scarborough [Graham] is such a great actor as well, a real pro. He’d been here for six months and I’d never even met him – and then the minute our paths crossed, we were snogging!
