The faint sound of church bells can be heard ringing up north – and in Steve Mcdonald’s nightmares – as news reaches us that he’s poised to make an honest woman of Tracy Barlow!
Word from the cobbles is that Steve will enter soap history books with wife number seven after he pops the question to Tracy, whom he’s already married and divorced once before…
“In the coming weeks, viewers will see Steve get down on one knee and propose to Tracy, who duly accepts,” whispers our
Corrie source. “It’s potentially the seventh time that he’ll be married, but the writers are still to decide whether they’ll make it down the aisle – as love is never straightforward in soap!”
What we can finally confirm is that Steve’s jailbird father, Jim Mcdonald, is due to make a return to the Street. Liz’s loose cannon of an ex-husband will be back for a stint later this year, but whether he’ll be donning his best suit and tie for his son’s wedding is anyone’s guess.
“Jim is currently serving the remainder of his prison sentence for armed robbery,” our informant reminds us. “However, his release date is fast approaching – and if there’s one woman he has never been able to stay away from, it’s his beloved Elizabeth.”
With Liz happily occupied at the local medical centre and Rovers Return – as well as enjoying a flirtation with Steve’s former school teacher, Mike Thornberry – Jim’s reappearance is sure to upset the apple cart. Their relationship has always been volatile, so combine that with the fireworks of potential Mcdonald-barlow nuptials, and it’ll be a miracle if Jim isn’t marched back to jail quicker than you can say, “Catch yourself on, Elizabeth”!
