COP COLBY TAKES AIM AND FIRES…

- Sarah Ellis

The search for kidnapped Ava turns dangerous this week as the police get involved – and shots are fired!

After Justin’s first attempt to hand over a ransom goes wrong, cop Colby is keen to do whatever it takes to get Ava back. But when he learns that biker Boyd and his mum Hazel are behind the kidnap, he realises there may have to be sacrifices in order to keep Ava safe…

“Colby’s plan is to set a trap for the kidnappers,” explains Tim Franklin, who plays him. “He has a strike team ready to move in and save the hostage – even if that means the suspects could slip through the net.”

Things seem to be going to plan as Willow hands over the ransom, and

Boyd lets Ava go. But the situation descends into chaos when spooked Boyd suddenly grabs Willow, and Dean springs from the bushes to save her – prompting panicked Colby to reach for his firearm.

“Colby has to make a split-second decision – kill for those you love, or watch them die,” reveals Tim. “Afterwards, Colby is deeply troubled. He feels a mixture of guilt and shame about what’s unfolded – but if he had the chance

to do it again, I’m not sure he would change what happened.”

Viewers will have to wait and see who cops a bullet – but Tim tells us he buckled under the pressure of filming the high-octane episode.

“Scenes with heightened emotion are challenging,” he admits. “Embarrassingly, in the first take when I shot the gun, I made shooting sound effects from my mouth by accident. I blamed it on childhood conditioning!”
