A DARING DRUGS BUST TURNS HER INTO A TV SENSATION…
Rosie’s life looks set to change forever this week, as she transforms into superwoman to bring her scheming exboyfriend Antoine to justice.
Determined that slimy Antoine will get his just deserts, Rosie joins forces with Craig and Gemma, and leaps into action. But typically oblivious to the danger she’s about to land herself in, it’s a minor miracle when Rosie and her crack team somehow manage to win the day.
Their drugs bust creates a national furore, turning the trio into celebrities overnight – and when they are invited for an exclusive interview with top telly hosts Phil and Holly on This Morning,
Rosie is beside herself with excitement!
“It’s the most amazing thing that’s ever happened to her,” grins Helen Flanagan, who plays Rosie. “It makes her life to go on This Morning and meet Holly and Phil. However, she does get in quite a lot of trouble before she gets there…”
Rosie’s dream come true gets off to an unlikely start, as she unleashes her dangerous bid to avenge Antoine’s dodgy deeds. Hell-bent on ensuring her former boyfriend won’t go unpunished for planting drugs on her and other unsuspecting wannabe models, Rosie stuffs a pile of cocaine in Antoine’s luggage while he prepares to return to the States.
“What could go wrong?!” laughs Helen. “Antoine’s been in Weatherfield to organise a photo shoot which Rosie was hired for. She’s made friends with another model, Olivia, who’s been seeing Antoine – and Rosie realised that he’s planted drugs on her in the same way he did to Rosie when she left LA last year.
“So she’s had this brainwave to substitute the drugs in Olivia’s bags for icing sugar, and pass them on to Antoine’s drug-dealer mates before putting the actual drugs into Antoine’s luggage – so he’ll be caught with them when he tries to fly home to the US…”
DOUBLE TROUBLE
It’s no wonder Rosie’s so intent on getting her own back on Antoine. The pair got together while she was struggling to get her doomed modelling career off the ground in America. A lack of work eventually forced her to return to Weatherfield – a humiliating experience made even worse once she realised that Antoine had heartlessly used her as a drugs mule.
“He gave her a package to take home and said it was just sweets for his friend,” sighs Helen. “And as she’s so naive, she believed him. Gemma set her up for this modelling job by pretending to be her agent – but when Rosie saw Antoine’s name on the photo shoot schedule, it all turned sour.
“She was very nervous to see him again – he’s a drug dealer after all. Anyone in their right mind would run a mile, especially since Rosie lost all his drugs in the end! So she did think twice about the job, but decided to front it out. And that’s when she discovered that Antoine’s done the same thing to Olivia as he did to her.”
Rosie’s crazy scheme goes to plan to begin with, as Olivia hands over the icing sugar to Antoine’s unsuspecting cohort,
and he gives her an envelope stuffed with cash in return – but that’s the easy part! Next, Rosie must transfer Antoine’s cocaine into his bags without him noticing, so he’ll be in for a very unpleasant surprise once he reaches airport customs.
“Of course, it doesn’t work out!” wails Helen. “Antoine catches Rosie and Gemma in the act of planting the drugs, and they end up in bother after Antoine forces Rosie to help him with another dodgy deal.”
Claiming that he’s no longer dealing drugs and is in fact working undercover for the police, he dupes Rosie into getting involved. He pins an MP3 player to her clothes, claiming it’s a wire providing direct contact with officers, before sending her off to wait for a man called Alan and pass over the drugs. But it soon transpires that Antoine isn’t telling the truth – and with Rosie facing big trouble, she’s fortunate that pals Gemma and Craig are on hand to provide vital back-up…
DAYTIME DRAMA
Unsurprisingly, the Weatherfield drugs drama causes a right old hoo-ha as news of the unlikely heist spreads – with Rosie and her team causing so much of a sensation that they bag themselves an invite on to the This Morning sofa, for a chinwag with Holly and Phil.
“Rosie arrives late for the interview, of course!” chuckles Helen. “But she looks a million dollars – and following the chat, she ends up being approached by a modelling agent.”
Having been treated so badly by Antoine, Rosie is thrilled when her new agent announces that she has a job in Japan, working on a TV game show. Her celebrity whirlwind continues with the news that she must jet off immediately – and as her family gathers on the cobbles to wave her off, Rosie’s on cloud nine. But will her newfound fame take her away from the Street for good this time?
