Has Hunter robbed his own mum?

MEL AND JACK TRY TO FIND OUT WHO TOOK THE £15,000 FROM THE E20 SAFE…

- Tom Spilsbury

Mel is put in a tricky situation this week, as Phil demands she find out who robbed the missing £15,000 from E20. But could the true culprit be her son, Hunter?

When they discover that the money has gone missing from the club’s safe, Sharon and Phil call a crisis meeting with Mel. Of course, none of them realise that Hunter and his friends had been in the club on a recent evening, and so are the prime suspects!

“Phil reckons it was Mel’s responsibility to make sure the club was locked,” points out our Walford insider. “So if she can’t find out who stole the money, then she’s the one to blame for the shortfall. But he doesn’t want to be completely unreasonable, so he gives her till the end of the week to think of a way to solve the problem and get the money back. He must be in a generous mood!”

The next day, Mel shares her problem with Jack. Along with Billy and Woody, Mel and Jack put their heads together to think about how the robbery could have taken place, given that there appears to be no evidence of a break-in.

“Billy suggests the robbery might have been an inside job – though he may as well be putting his own head on the chopping block,” chuckles our mole. “However, he does have a valid point. Whoever stole the money must have had a key to the club. Woody then points to the empty bottle left on the bar, suggesting it could have been drunk by the thief. If the fingerprints can be positively identified, they might help track down the culprit…”

Jack is soon convinced that the guilty party is Keegan, and the ex-cop accuses the lad of stealing the money from the club’s safe – demanding to know who else was involved!

“Keegan’s prints might be on that bottle, but he doesn’t know anything about the cash,” says our spy. “It’s clear Jack is in no mood to mess around, though. Bernadette tells her brother that to prove his innocence, they will have to find the real thief! The pair assemble the rest of their mates who were with them in the club that night – Hunter, Louise and Bex – and accusations start to fly back and forth. Could this destroy their friendship?”

Desperate to clear his name, Keegan returns to Jack and tells him that Hunter is the one who stole the cash. But does he know for sure, or is he just saying anything to save his own skin? Jack isn’t sure what to believe, though he realises his only choice is to confront Hunter about the matter.

“Of course, when Jack steams in, accusing Hunter of being the thief, Mel jumps to her son’s defence,” explains our snitch. “She doesn’t want to believe it might be true. Jack realises it’s no use trying to get answers while Mel’s around, and so tells her that he saw a crowd of police heading over to E20, causing her to rush off in a blind panic. But once he’s alone with Hunter, will Jack get the answers he needs?”
