Alfie’s plight is finally realised
HIS LOVED ONES FINALLY WORK OUT THAT HE HAS A SERIOUS PROBLEM…
Alfie’s mental health crisis leaves him in mortal peril this week – as the teen ends up at the top of the archway in the village!
Viewers are aware that Alfie has been hearing a voice in his head for quite some time, and it’s been persuading him that his loved ones are out to get him. But it all reaches a crescendo in this special episode dedicated to Alfie – who finds himself in danger…
“Alfie ends up at the archway, and from that point on we don’t know what’s going to happen,” teases Richard Linnell, who plays the troubled lad. “What I will say is that there is some peril involved, and all we can hope is that
Alfie finds help.”
As the week kicks off,
Tom becomes increasingly concerned for his pal’s mental health, and tries to persuade Alfie to see a doctor. But with the voice in his head still influencing him, Alfie becomes convinced that Tom is working with the government to try to bring him down!
“He then overhears Tom phoning Marnie, and telling her that they need to get Alfie some help,” explains Richard. “By this point, Alfie is incredibly paranoid, and the voice is quite threatening – so he’s convinced that everyone is out to get him. In his state he realises that all he can do is go on the defensive, so he ends up barricading himself in the Cunningham house.”
Reckoning that he must have superpowers – since he brought Sienna back from the dead – Alfie concludes that he got them from his biological mum, Cindy. Therefore, she, Holly and Hilton must have them, too! Alfie is determined to keep the whole family safe, but when they wake up to find him holed up in their living room, Alfie’s loved ones are very worried indeed.
“They come downstairs to find Alfie having a full-blown mental health crisis,” shares Richard. “They quickly realise that he’s really not well, and they’re trying to work out how

to calm him down and get him some help. But Alfie eventually decides that he’s not safe in the house, and breaks out – which is when he ends up at the archway.”
Richard’s sworn to secrecy about what happens next. But he says filming the episode was pretty full-on…
“These scenes are really intense – there’s about eight people in each of them, and they’re all about four or five minutes long,” he enthuses. “But they are so well written – some of the best I’ve ever seen in the show. And the actors I was working with were absolutely brilliant
– I couldn’t have asked to be locked in a house with better people!”
