Liberty returns to the village

Dirk’s daughter is recast as Jessamy Stoddart…

- Michael Cregan

As Liberty makes an unexpected return to the village, we chat to newcomer – and

West End musical star – Jessamy Stoddart, to find out what’s in store for Dirk’s daughter…

Welcome, Jessamy – were you nervous about joining

Hollyoaks?

I think it just happened so fast that I didn’t have any time to be nervous! It was the best thing that could have happened – bish-bash-bosh and I was in!

Liberty turns up out of the blue – why has she come back home after all this time?

Well, she’s had five years in LA, which I think can be a bit of a struggle, especially if you’ve not had your big break. The reason she’s back becomes clear, which will make for some funny episodes! She explains her journey, and that’s all I can tell you for now.

What’s her relationship with her dad, Dirk, like?

Wonderful. She’s an absolute daddy’s girl! They have a lovely relationship. It’s nice to get the family unit together!

Will she be making any new friends in the village?

Liberty gets on with everyone! Even if they don’t get on with her, she wouldn’t even realise. If someone was being mean, she would completely think, ‘Oh, they’ve had a bad day! I’ll buy them some flowers’. Nothing ever affects her. She’s just so easy breezy.

Milo takes a shine to Liberty – what does she make of him?

She just thinks he’s lovely. She might

‘friend-zone’ him a bit without realising, but there is that element where you put the two of them together and it’s quite lovely to look at.

Liberty loves to sing – will you be using your musical skills at any point in the future?

I might be – but maybe not in the way you’re expecting!

What else can we expect from Liberty – any romance?

She falls in love hard and fast – I’ll say that! So maybe some romance, who knows?
