MOIRA STALKED – BY HER TRANSGENDER SON!
As a familiar face spies on the farm, a family drama unfolds…
Moira is in for the mother of all shocks – when her daughter Hannah returns, and reveals she is now living as a man called Matty having undergone gender reassignment while away from the village.
This week, viewers will realise someone is spying on Moira and Cain, but the sinister stalker’s identity will be kept under wraps until next week, when Cain punches an intruder at the farm. However, Moira instantly recognises Matty as the daughter she knew as Hannah.
But how will Moira feel about having a son? And what are the challenges ahead as mother and child try to rebuild their relationship, after so long apart?
“Matty knows how to make an impact: Cheeky, effervescent, quick-witted and headstrong, it’s not long before he’s charmed his way into the affections of all those who meet him,” shares Dales producer Kate Brooks. “His tale of a man trying to shake off his past and find acceptance in the present is full of emotion, humour and ultimately hope, as he settles back into village life, turning Moira’s world upside down in the process.” Playing Matty is Emmerdale’s first regular trans actor, Ash Palmisciano, who has appeared in Boy Meets Girl and Mum.
“I’m very excited to be joining the Emmerdale family,” enthuses the star. “From nervous auditions to now working alongside the team daily has been truly amazing. Matty is a groundbreaking character to play, and I can’t wait to see what’s ahead for him.” Matty will first appear at the end of June.
