The search for Amelia takes a shocking turn this week, as the lass’ biological father Daz is arrested in connection with her disappearance!
Dan and Kerry are horrified to discover the police have evidence linking their little girl’s abduction to Daz, the man who only recently learned he was her dad, not her uncle. Although he protests his innocence, things don’t look good for Daz. Is he capable of such a terrible thing?
“You make a few mistakes as a kid and all of a sudden, people start pointing the finger at you,” jokes Mark Jordan, who plays Daz. “There’s such intrigue as to why the police have an interest in him, and we learn a lot more about him. There was something he was involved in back in his past that may have a big implication on Amelia being missing.”
We know that Daz has led a pretty troubled life, living on the streets and being involved in petty crime, but we didn’t know how dark it had got. When Daz emerges from being interviewed, he’s met with fury from Kerry and Dan. They accuse him of taking Amelia and lying about it all this time – accusations that provoke
Daz to storm out. It looks as if the truce between the brothers is well and truly broken.
“Kerry and Bernice have made so much effort to get the siblings to put the past behind them and to look to the future,” muses Mark. “But Amelia’s paternity and disappearance have made that very difficult. It’s like a game of snakes and ladders, and now the family has slid down into turmoil.”
While Daz is maintaining his innocence, Dan is determined to get answers out of his brother one way or another. When the police fail to charge Daz, the furious fella confronts him with a wrench and threatens to beat the truth out of him. As the two men square up, Daz makes a confession that could change
everything, and Dan is forced to face the truth about his brother.
“There’s a lot more to come about how Daz got himself in such a pickle,” promises Mark. “In the search for Amelia, people will realise he’s less of a buffoon and more of a survivor with instincts, and he’s a bit more street smart. It’s very upsetting, and there will be a lot of emotions coming out.”
Dan and Kerry just want Amelia home safely – but given how long she’s been gone and the revelations about Daz’s past, is that too much to hope for?
