Laurel vs Brenda: food fight!

THEY FLING VEG AT EACH OTHER AS LAUREL ACCUSES BRENDA OF MAKING A PLAY FOR HER DAD…

- Tom Spilsbury

Bickering Laurel and Brenda resume their battle this week, but this time it’s not just insults being flung by the pair – it’s a whole week’s worth of veggies!

Relations have been extremely frosty between the two women ever since Bob and Brenda called time on their short-lived marriage and Bob moved in with Laurel with indecent haste. Jealous Brenda has been holding a grudge against the loved-up couple, forcing Bob to insist that his kids move out of Brenda’s home to instead live with him and Laurel. However, as the week’s events begin, ironically it looks as if the love rivals could actually be turning a corner…

“Initially, it seems as though the three of them are starting to behave like grownups at long last,” confirms our Dales spy. “Of course, Brenda is still really sore about the break-up with Bob, but even she accepts that if she keeps battling her ex and his new lover, then it’s only going to make things more upsetting for the kids. Heath and Cathy are at a very impressionable age, and it’s up to the adults to set a good example. They agree that everything will be kept amicable – though how long do you think that will last?”

The answer is: not very long at all! After Laurel realises something has gone on between her dad Doug and Brenda, the warring women are soon at each other’s throats outside the B&B, using whatever comes to hand – which just happens to be carrots, cabbages, courgettes, cucumbers and cauliflowers!

“What an embarrassing sight,” groans our sneak. “It’s a furious food feud! Laurel gets wind of the fact that her father and Brenda have become close – and while it’s true that Doug has been spending time with Brenda since his relationship with Diane entered choppy waters, suspicious Laurel reckons that Brenda has deliberately got involved with her dad just to get her own back! Now the secret’s out, the beans have been spilled in more ways than one.”

As the two women fling abuse and groceries at one another, Bob tries to intervene – yet not surprisingly, he’s the last person in the world to be a calming influence on the pair. Doug also pleads with the two women to put down the veg, but to no avail.

When the police eventually arrive on the scene, will the ladies finally agree to call it quits and turn over a new leaf?
