Stuart & Mick are at loggerheads

HE’S UNEASY WHEN STUART ASKS HIM TO HELP TRACK DOWN SEXUAL PREDATORS…

- Tom Spilsbury

Mick just can’t shake the feeling that this is stupid and wrong…”

Mick is put in a difficult position this week, when his old friend Stuart asks for his help in hunting down paedophiles!

The shock request comes soon after Mick suspected Stuart himself of being a sexual predator, when he discovered incriminating messages and photographs on his pal’s phone, implying that Stuart had been in contact with underage girls. Having feared the worst of his mate, Mick is relieved to find out that Stuart isn’t an abuser after all – instead,

he hunts them!

“Stuart gives Mick a lecture about how long they’ve known each other, and questions how he could ever have had any doubts about him,” explains our Albert Square insider. “Mick feels awful about having had such ghastly suspicions about Stuart – but to be fair to him, the evidence did look very incriminating. And given how much boisterous Stuart loves winding up Mick, you’re never quite sure what to think! Plagued by guilt, Mick is desperate to do anything in order to make it up to

Stuart, but he might regret making that offer…”

In the café, Stuart informs Mick about his next mission. He tells him about how he’s on the trail of an abuser, but he needs Mick’s help to pull off the sting. Mick is extremely uneasy about the request, yet he feels pressured into going along with Stuart’s plan.

“Mick really isn’t sure this is a good idea at all,” warns our spy. “He rightly feels that this is the sort of thing that’s best left to the authorities, and he doesn’t want to get into these murky waters. But Stuart tries to calm Mick’s nerves by reassuring him that he’s not a vigilante, and he isn’t out to use violence. He just wants to confront these scumbags with hard evidence of their crimes. Mick still isn’t sure it’s a wise thing to be doing, though he reluctantly finds himself talked into becoming a part of Stuart’s crusade.”

As Stuart carries on with his preparations for the hunt, Mick continues to have severe doubts – and when he finds out that Stuart has talked his brother Halfway into joining them on their risky quest, he becomes even more nervous.

“Mick just can’t shake the feeling that this is dangerous and stupid and wrong,” sighs our mole. “Mick is a principled

man, and obviously doesn’t condone child abuse. But there are experts out there who investigate these awful crimes, professionally. The last thing that’s going to help is to have Mick and Halfway blundering in! Mick appeals to Halfway, and tries to talk him out of going. However, Halfway is even more loyal to Stuart, and tells Mick that he simply can’t let his brother down.”

As the hour approaches for the mission to begin, will Mick decide to go through with Stuart’s audacious plan? And is there more going on than meets the eye?
