NICOLA BOWS OUT!
Corrie star Nicola Thorp made a shock exit from the soap last week, after her character Nicola left for Bristol with baby son Zack.
The actress immediately took to Twitter to confirm that it was her final episode, and to thank her colleagues for her memorable time on the show.
“Thanks to the cast and crew and everyone at Coronation Street for making the cobbles feel like home this past year,” she tweeted. “I’m lucky to call you my friends. Thanks to the audience and fans for all the love and support. From this Nicola (and the other one) see you later, Weatherfield.”
Nicola first arrived on the Street last June – and what a turbulent 12 months it’s been! She found out she was Pat Phelan’s daughter, before learning that he was a serial killer – not to mention the fact that she got knocked up by her dad’s arch-nemesis Gary Windass!
It’s been quite the ride for actress Nicola too, who’s recently spoken out about the objectification of women on the red carpet. And if rumours are to be believed, she’s bagged herself a new boyfriend in the shape of gorgeous co-star Charlie De Melo (Imran)!
While a Corrie spokesperson confirmed that Nicola has indeed left the show, what about Eileen, who departed the cobbles with her?
“The door has been left open for both Nicola and Eileen – although Eileen perhaps has more reason to return,” remarks our source. “The
Street has been her home for 18 years, and leaving that history behind is definitely going to be tough for her. But viewers will have to wait and see if this really is the last we’ll see of her…”
