Pregnant Hayley finally confesses her baby secret this week. But while she thinks she’s safe telling a random punter in the back of her cab that she’s expecting, little does she know that the chat will come back to haunt her – as the fella later turns up on the Slaters’ doorstep...
The drama begins when
Kat is adamant that the family should sell the taxi, and use the dosh to help pay off their debts. But Hayley’s rebellious streak means that she refuses to comply – and thinking of their future, she continues to use the cab illegally to pick up punters and make some much-needed cash.
“Hayley is secretly worried about the fact that she’ll soon have another mouth to feed,” explains our Square source. “She’s desperate for cash, and being the typical Slater she is, can’t resist pushing her luck with the taxi. However, the last thing she wants is for Kat to cotton on to the fact that she’s pregnant with Alfie’s baby!”
After Hayley unsuccessfully tries to retrieve the taxi keys from Jean, she enlists Keanu’s help to break into the motor. The reluctant fella agrees – only to be caught red-handed by the Slaters! Jean reveals that Hayley has been driving the cab illegally, prompting
Kat to grill her on whether she’s planning on doing it again. However, just when it looks as if the game is up for Hayley, sneaky Mo steps in and provides her with a cover story – before secretly encouraging Hayley to carry on with the taxi service.
With that, Hayley sets off in the cab and happens to pick up a punter that Stuart has previously chased out of the Vic. Hayley gets talking to the man, and while swapping stories about their respective woes, she goes on to share the news that she’s expecting.

However, after the man leaves the cab, he takes a picture of the licence plate – before turning up at No 31 the following day and revealing that he is a police officer! As Hayley anxiously waits to hear whether he’s going to punish her, the rest of the Slaters listen in and are puzzled when they hear the cop remind Hayley that she has someone else to think about now. Will they realise she’s pregnant?
