Jenny looks set to dash Gemma’s hopes of becoming landlady…

-

The Rovers Return will be sold to a new owner in the coming weeks – but it’s not a forgone conclusion as to who will take control of the Street’s beloved boozer!

Tabloid reports claim that Johnny Connor will pip prospective buyers Henry and Gemma to the post, snapping up the pub for sentimental reasons – it was the last place that he saw his son, Aidan, before he died. But Johnny could potentially spark one of the biggest Weatherfield catfights of all time…

“It’s Jenny in the red corner versus Gemma in the blue!” poses our Corrie insider. “Both women will be champing at the bit to take their place behind the bar as landlady, and be Queen of the Street. They’ve had their squabbles in the past, but this battle promises to be truly epic!”

Gemma and her rich fella Henry have plans to turn the Rovers into a cocktail bar (see p32). But the rumour is that Johnny will swoop in with Jenny and make some very controversial decisions as landlord – from rebranding the pub to scrapping Betty William’s infamous hotpots!

“Spies from the set claim Johnny will change the pub’s name from the Rovers Return Inn to ‘The Roverz’,” reports our source. “He also plans to spruce up the cobbles landmark with a bright neon sign – and introduce a gastro food menu. The locals will surely be in uproar!”

Jenny will relish the idea of lording it over those who’ve snubbed her in the past. However, it’ll be intriguing to see who else Johnny employs behind the bar. Jenny is still in the dark about his fling with Liz, who was recently fired from the pub by Toyah. Liz is an obvious choice for barmaid given her years of experience – but would Johnny risk having both his wife and mistress pull pints?

Then again, the poor fella isn’t exactly thinking clearly these days…
