The police close in on Ross

THE POLICE ARE ON TO HIM AND THE STOLEN CARS…

- Kate White

There’s trouble for Ross this week, as he tries to shift Lawrence’s stolen cars, unaware that the police are on to him.

He’s been hiding the nicked motors at Butlers Barn ever since he found Rebecca desperately trying to liberate them before they were sold. Between them, they planned to sell these classic vehicles on and make a tidy profit, but Rebecca has now gone AWOL, and Ross hasn’t heard from her. So as the police close in, only the Barton boy is left to carry the can.

“Ross lives for this kind of danger – he loves the thrill of it,” reckons our Emmerdale insider. “Once he has a buyer, Ross thinks he is home free and going to be minted. He’s hopeful that Rebecca will come back and share the spoils with him, and it’ll be the first good thing to happen since he was attacked with acid.”

Having clocked Ross’ happy mood and grown suspicious, Pete goes searching around Butlers to find answers. He is furious after he discovers the barn is full of Lawrence’s posh cars and realises his brother is up to his illegal tricks again. When he confronts Ross in the barn, the brothers argue, but there’s a bigger problem on the way – Rhona. She surprises them by turning up and demanding to know what on earth Ross is playing at. There’s no way Rhona is going to stand by and let criminal car stealing go on without saying something, and Pete faces a big challenge to convince his girlfriend not to report them.

“Ross has put the rest of the Barton clan in the firing line”

But while the trio argues, they don’t realise that the police are waiting to pounce outside.

“Ross has taken a gamble and put the rest of the Bartons in the firing line too!” says our source. “By stashing the cars at Butlers, he’s compromised Moira, Cain and Pete – and now Rhona could be implicated as well. It’s a disaster!”

Cain can’t believe his eyes when he arrives home to see an unmarked police car outside and realises a sting operation is in progress.

Racing over to the barn, he gives Ross an earful about being so stupid, and warns him that if he and Moira get

done for this, there will be severe consequences.

For now, however, he and Ross need Pete’s help to get rid of the police and move the cars fast. The race is on try to distract the cops and clear the barn. Can Ross stage the ultimate getaway without being apprehended, or is he facing a long stint at Her Majesty’s pleasure?
