POLLY WALKER STARS IN A NEW DRAMA ABOUT THE FIGHT TO RESCUE A FAMILY-RUN BEAUTY SALON…

-

Sometimes things get ugly in the world of beauty, and we’re about to see how true that is in this new series from the woman behind Poldark,

Debbie Horsfield. After stepping down from running the family’s beauty salon nearly 20 years ago, Bel finds herself at a loose end when her kids leave for university.

“She gave it all up to raise her kids,” explains Polly Walker, who plays Bel. “She was very successful, she was about to bring out her own product line, and then for whatever reason, she gave it all up and focused on her children. But now she’s been asked to come back because the salon is apparently in trouble. It’s run rather chaotically, like the family really – the whole family is incredibly dysfunctional!”

While filming a promotional video for the business, Bel finds a message on her husband Wes’ phone showing him in a compromising position with his personal trainer Lorelei. So on top of needing to save the business, she also has to fight to save her marriage as well.

And while Bel has a flair for the business, Polly admits that she wasn’t required to be too hands on with the beauty side of things during filming.

“I was a bit more managerial – I had to tidy the stock room quite a bit!” she chuckles. “And I did comb the same strand of one poor extra’s hair for about two hours…”

As the first episode plays out, we’ll see heartbreak, tension, conflict and even a spot of sabotage. There’s plenty of drama lined up to sustain us for the rest of the series – and Polly thinks viewers will be surprised how a familiar city is portrayed.

“It shows Manchester in a way it hasn’t ever been seen before,” she says. “It’s been shot amazingly. You could be in New York, or anywhere, it’s stunning how they’ve shot it.”

THE WHOLE FAMILY IS INCREDIBLY DYSFUNCTIONAL!”
